Strategies

1) Financial assistance to the Tripura Board of Wakfs for infrastructure developement and gearing up the activities for self employment,protection and promotion of wakf properties.

2) Financial assistance to the Tripura state Haj Committee for infrastructure developement and arrangement of smooth passages of Haj Pilgrims including providing support for obtaining required Passport ,Visas and to provide vaccination,to impart training to the Haj Pilgrims.

3) Financial assistance to the Tripura Minorities Co-operative Developement Corporation ltd.(TMCDCL) inthe form of Government guarantee and stage share for providing term loan to the minority youth for income generating self employment and education loan to the minority students for higher studies in technical and professional courses.

The Department for Welfare of Minorities has been implementing different kinds of schemes mainly Educational Economic Sectors for the Welfare of the Minorities since the beginning of the planning process in the State. Consistent with the national approach to 12th Plan, emphasis has been given towards integrated development of Minorities. The basic objective will be to give priority to the Minorities dominated areas to ensure bridging the gap between the levels of development of Minorities dominated areas with other areas in the state.

The Department has been continuously endeavoring to promote economic development of persons belonging to Minorities communities. Emphasise to provide them with adequate educational opportunities with incentives to pursue higher education i.e. Engineering,Medical,Nursing,Para-Medical Courses etc. and also their economic development.

The Following Steps/schemes Has Been Earmarked by the Department Proposed 12th Five Year Plan 2012-17 and Annual Plan 2013-14

a) To ensure payment of scholarship/stipend and other incentives to all eligible Minority students.

b) To reduce drop out rates at primary, Secondary and higher secondary levels and to bring them at par with the other categories of population.

c) To put emphasis on vocational training courses for educated unemployed youths and courses like GNM(Girls) and newly proposed schemes like GNM(boys), B-Pharma, B.Sc. Nursing Training and Paramedical Sciences like BMLT/BMRIT/BHM etc. (during 2013-14) are encouraged.

d) To assist BPL families from Minority communities in generating additional family income.

e) To involve women for their communities in all group activities to generate confidence among them.

f) Permanent settlement of Minorities.

g) Financial Assistance to Minority patients.

h) Rubber/Tea plantation for minority families.

i) Begam Rokeya Merit Award to topper Muslim girls in Madhyamik & H.S.(+2 stage) examination.

Sector Wise Break Up of 12th Five Year Plan and Annual Plan 2013-14

During the 12th Five Year Plan in respect of Minority Welfare Dept. the proposed outlay is Rs. 3369.10 lakhs and 70326 students shall be benefited for Education Development, 17900 families shall be supported for economic development etc.(Rs.In Lakhs)
