Aims and Objects of the Tripura Wakf Board

The Board has been created for protection, preservation, renovation, over all supervision, better management and safeguard of the Wakf properties like – Graveyard, Darga, Idgha, Mosque and other Religious institution. Besides Tripura Wakf Board also renders its sincere services for Socio-economic upliftment of the Muslim population in the State by adopting a nos. of Welfare programmes.

As per survey conducted between 1981 a 2011 there are 1969 nos. of Wakf properties and these have been published in the State Gazette. For smooth and better monitoring of the Wakf properties. Revenue Deptt. Govt. of Tripura vide its notification dated 16th august, 1997 appointed Director, Land Record & Settlement, Addl. D.M.and Collector and Sub-Divisional Magistrate as Survey Commissioner of Wakfs, addl. Survey Commissioner of Wakfs and Asstt.Survey Commissioner of Wakfs, respectively under sub-section 1 section 4 of Wakf Act, 1995.

Achievement of Tripura Board of Wakfs

1) Educational Scheme

The Board spent a good sum of fund for awarding stipend to the promising Muslim students studying in class II to V for ten months per year.The criteria as follows:-

2) Developement of Religious Institution

The Board spent a substantial percentage of its grant for renovation, preservation and protection of Religious Institutions like Majid, Dargah, Idgah and Graveyard.

3) Housing Scheme

The Board also provides grant to the rural people for repairing of their dwelling houses. A beneficiary is sanctioned a maximum of Rs.2000/-.

4) Construction of Market Stall on Wakf Land

The Board spend an amount of Rs. 12,30,000/- for construction of 21 nos. of Market Stall on Wakf properties in the sadar, Amarpur and Kilashahar Sub-Divisions.Besides, 9(nine) nos.Market Sralls have also been constructed on Urban Wakf Properties at Belonia Sub-Division with the help of Nagar Panchayat, Belonia with a sum of Rs. 10,50,000/-.

5) Self-employmrnt Program

The Wakf Board imparts self-Employment Programme to the educated youth under different trades like as food Processing and Preservation, Air Condition and Refregarator Repairing, Computer Training, Tailoring and LMV Driving also Distribution of Ricksaw Push Cart to the Rural people.

6) Medical Aid

Medical assistance is being given to the poor Muslim patients for better treatment. The maximum amount of medical aid to poor person is Rs.500/. Sub-Divisional Magistrate are empowered to sanction the assistance.

7) Cultural Activities

Since 1995 Tripura Board of Wakfs jointly with the Information, Cultural Affairs and Tourism Deptt. and from 1998 in collaboration with the Minorities Welfare Deptt. have been organizing State Level Jari Sari Cultural/Karbala Swaran Shandha festival in order to encourage and promote different trades of Cultural activities.

8) Rest House

The Tripura Wakf Board runs a Rest House named Moulana Abul Kalam Azad Pantha Nibish since 1995 in the heart of the Capital, Agartala to facilitate the stay of the people who come from the different corner of the State Agartala for treatment, private business, studying and other purposes.
